We have moved! Into 360 Jackson Avenue (near the alley between Hastings and Cordova Streets) very near the southeast corner of Oppenheimer Park and just a block away from our meal site at 373 Cordova ... Now we are in the throes of getting rewired for tech and settling in. The location is great. We are very much in the midst of the DTES again ... Better than any of the places we had checked out and “more than we could have asked or imagined” ... God is faithful. God is faithful beyond our reckoning. The potential for renewed ministries in this new place is full of equally mind blowing possibilities .... Read more about our new location and how it came to be in the fall 2009 newsletter
We are planning a House Blessing and Open House at our new digs Sunday October 18 the feast of St. Luke the Evangelist, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Please come by and join us. Help us celebrate God’s generosity to us. Please continue to support our ministries as we are now tenants with a hefty monthly rent in addition to our other expenses.
Goodbye Aidan! Hello Susan! With a new baby on the way, Aidan will be taking her leave of LUMS on September 30. LUMS thanks Aidan for her invaluable contributions to our organization, and gives her best wishes as she starts a new journey into motherhood. The board of LUMS is pleased to announce the hiring of Susan Beck to the role of Administrative Assistant and Meal Coordinator. Susan joined us August 22 and brings a wealth of experience in outreach service to the Downtown Eastside. We are blessed to have her as a part of LUMS.
Mark Your Calendars! The North Shore Concert Band, under direction of Mr. Tak Maeda, will perform at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Tuesday December 15, by donation, with proceeds to LUMS. Entertainment Books 2010 are available from LUMS. Ask your congregational LUMS contact, or pick one up at our office, or we are prepared to deliver to any church in the lower mainland (a minimum order of 4 books).
