Dear friends -
This is just to let you know that after 18 months of being in exile and diligently looking for a new location in the downtown east side without very much success, we've finally located a new office space!
We are grateful to Christ Church Cathedral & Dean Peter Elliott for the welcome and hospitality offered us in our time of urgent need for hosting us in the cathedral during these temporary months.
The cathedral plans to use the office we have been occupying as office for a new parish nurse programme, so our finding new digs could hardly be more timely!
It has been a long and challenging process. Often when we found something suitable our hopes were dashed. We've had to negotiate with realtors, city bureaucrats, building management agencies, largely without success.
In the end our new site came through the personal human connection. Our current admin staff person Aidan Ferris is with child and retiring come end of September. The board has hired Susan Beck formerly of First United as Aidan's successor. Susan just happened to mention LUMS' need at a casual party. Stephen Gray of First United Housing Society offered us 360 Jackson as an option.
Toward the end of the eucharistic liturgy in the (Anglican) Book of Alternative Services there is an acclamation that says..
"glory to God whose power working in us can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine..."
These words capture what the new facility at 360 Jackson is for us. We looked at a lot of alternatives during these past months. What God has granted us is more than we could have asked or imagined. Now we get on with the process of settling in to our new home, and seeing what opportunities for ministry are on our door step.
